Location: Hybrid at Corporate HQ – Gilbert, Arizona, United States. Expected in-office presence at least once per week.
Salary Range: $165k – $205k depending on experience and specific expertise

The Opportunity

We are in an exciting phase of transitioning our backend architecture from PHP to Node.js and C# running on AWS Lambdas. This is a pivotal moment in our evolution and a unique opportunity for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer (SE5) to leave a lasting imprint on our technology stack. You’ll work closely with a talented group of engineers, product managers, and designers, driving the transformation while elevating our platform’s capabilities to new heights. This role spans the full stack, but ideally, your prowess lies in backend engineering and DevOps.

Role Highlights

  • Backend Maestro: Your primary domain is backend engineering, where you excel in creating robust, scalable, and highly efficient systems. Your skills in languages like Node.js and C# are expected to be top-notch.
  • DevOps Experience: You bring along solid DevOps experience that equips you to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively. Your understanding of CI/CD pipelines, serverless architecture, and AWS infrastructure is second to none. You will have a small team of DevOps contractors/consultants to lean on, so you won’t be going it alone.
  • Frontend Knowledge: While frontend development isn’t your strongest suit, you possess a sufficient understanding of it to contribute as needed and help the team come up with solutions. Your past experience in ReactJS will be a valuable asset to our front-end team.


  • Feature Development Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to accurately define, scope, and shepherd new software features from initial conception to production deployment.
  • Optimize Existing Codebase: Actively contribute to the extension and refinement of features primarily implemented in Node.js and C#, while guiding and aiding our frontend transition from Vue to React.
  • DevOps Contributions: Take ownership in maintaining and enhancing our CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot deployment issues proactively, and spearhead security remediation within AWS.
  • API Development: Meticulously design and construct robust and resilient APIs, using Node.js and C#, catering to both internal and external stakeholders’ needs.
  • Cloud Architecture: Lead in architecting and deploying scalable solutions on AWS, leveraging serverless technologies like Lambdas, DynamoDB, and other managed services.
  • AWS CDK Savvy: Exhibit a strong grasp of AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and spearhead best practices in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), focusing on robust, scalable, and maintainable cloud architecture.
  • Enforce Best Practices: Rigorously uphold coding and design standards by actively participating in code reviews and design discussions, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Lifecycle Thinking: Embrace a comprehensive approach to software engineering, taking ownership from frontend to backend, all the way through to the delivery into an observable production environment.
  • Mentorship: Assume the mentorship role by nurturing junior and mid-level engineers through targeted coaching, thereby fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
